The 2015 Commonwealth Round Table Lecture

The 2015 Commonwealth Round Table Lecture will be delivered by the distinguished former Prime Minister of Malta, Dr Lawrence Gonzi.

Dr Gonzi will be speaking after the official opening of the Malta Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) earlier that day. The title of his address will be: "The Commonwealth, The European Union, The Challenges". He is expected to argue for a rekindling of the Commonwealth spirit in accordance with its core values and to point up the linkages with the European Union as an opportunity for the Commonwealth 'to add global value' (the theme of the Commonwealth summit and its associated forums). He will identify three key challenges - migration; fundamentalism; and global poverty and agricultural policy - and offer his own way forward.
Dr Gonzi was Prime Minister of Malta from 2004 and 2013 and pioneered Malta's entry into the European Union. He was Chairperson-in-Office of the Commonwealth between 2005 and 2007, having chaired the 2005 Malta CHOGM.

The Lecture, which will be followed by a drinks reception with Dr Gonzi and other VIP guests. Entrance is free but seating is limited and early booking is essential. Entry will be by numbered ticket only. To reserve a place, please contact Alex May (Hon Secretary, the Round Table).
