Commonwealth Games reception at City Hall

The Royal Commonwealth Society celebrated this year's Commonwealth theme 'Team Commonwealth' in style with a reception in 'London's Living Room', on the top floor of City Hall.
Working with our partners at the London Assembly and The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, the event brought together business, diaspora, civil society, sporting, diplomatic and Commonwealth communities to look ahead to the upcoming Games in July on the top floor of one of London’s most iconic buildings.
Addresses were made by David Grevemberg, CEO of the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee, Darren Johnson, Chair of the London Assembly and Claire Whitaker, Chair of the Royal Commonwealth Society.

David Grevemberg took guests through what they could expect out of the upcoming games and set out a vision for their legacy. He said that the Organising Committee were 'overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the people of Glasgow, the UK and the Commonwealth', and that they wanted the games to set out a 'daring new vision for the Commonwealth'. The Commonwealth, in his view, is about 'connecting and giving people a sense of identity. It is not about where we have been, but about where we are going'.
