We are supporting diverse coalitions to advance equality before the law in a range of Commonwealth countries.

Intersectional movements – those that bring together a broad coalition of activists of many identities and backgrounds – are crucial to advancing equality. Working with our partners in the Equality & Justice Alliance, we are supporting coalitions of civil society organisations to advocate for equality for women and girls and LGBT+ people in Mauritius, Botswana, Namibia, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Pacific.

These diverse groups of organisations will collectively develop and deliver shared plans that advance their priorities for reform. Focus areas identified by the groups include sexual offences reform, combatting hate crimes and violence, advancing mental health protections, and increasing access to safe and legal abortion.
