CHARLTON ATHLETIC SUPPORTS THE ROYAL COMMONWEALTH SOCIETY'S ESSAY COMPETITION
Football and Essays – the perfect mix!!
Charlton Athletic Community Trust is a passionate advocate for the universal language of football, sports and arts to create a better society.
The football club generously sponsored a prize in the 2009 Commonwealth Essay Competition. The question was:
"The Beautiful Game": Why does football inspire such passion around the world?
In response, we had over one hundred entries of great quality. The winners chosen in each age group by our examining panel are:
Class A ~ Faiz Ahmed, Karachi Grammar School, Pakistan
Class B ~ Chen You Wei, Nan Hua High School, Singapore
Class C ~ Vishal Mukudan, SMK Convent, Malaysia
Class D ~ Darien Pletcher, Sir William Van Horne Elementary School, Canada
The lucky winners have been awarded 10 footballs and a set of cones for each of their schools, so that everyone can continue to enjoy the "Beautiful Game"!
This was made possible due to Charlton Athletic Community Trust's kind support.www.cafc.co.uk/Community_Trust.ink
But this could not have happened without the additional generous help of:
Mr Toby Baxendale, CEO and Founder of Seafood Holdings Ltd, who kindly sponsored the transportation of the prizes to our Pakistan and Singapore schools www.seafoodholdings.co.uk/index.html
Mr Encik Wan Shah Bany and the RCS Malaysia Branch who kindly sponsored the transportation of the prizes to our Malaysia school.
Mr Shawn Wadeand the RCS Mainland of British Columbia branch in Vancouver who kindly sponsored the transportation of the prizes to our Canadian school.
Our young Canadian winner...!
