The RCS has a rich history of nurturing the creative talents of young people around the Commonwealth through a range of competitions. Since 2010, these competitions have been run as one exciting awards scheme.
With writing, film and photography categories, our Young Commonwealth Competitions are open to anybody under the age of 30 living in the Commonwealth. They encourage creative responses to global challenges and offer a unique international platform for new young talent.
The 2012 Young Commonwealth Competitions closed on 1st May 2012. Judging took place over the summer and the full results will be announced on the RCS website by Friday 12th October.
This year, in honour of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, all eligible photo, film and photo entries have been added to the world's biggest history project, the Jubilee Time Capsule. They join over 80,000 items which have been submitted by 37,000 people from across the Commonwealth.
The Capsule is an innovative social archive of the last 60 years and we're really excited that this year's Young Commonwealth Competitions are part of it.
Our top Competition prizewinners have the special honour of being included in the Diamond (re)Collection. This will be the 60 very best Jubilee Time Capsule entries, handpicked by a distinguished panel of judges and curated into a special collection for Her Majesty The Queen. This collection will later be gifted to the Royal Collection.
