WINNERS AT CHOGM 2011
As part of a special prize commissioned by Commonwealth Festival Perth, two winners from the 2011 competition were flown to Perth, Western Australia for the week of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Senior Gold winner Amit Madheshiya from India, and Senior Silver winner Rehnuma Tasnim Sheefa from Bangladesh joined the RCS for a week of Commonwealth events, workshops and a special exhibition of all of the year's winning photos.
Inspired by Perth's many beaches, Amit produced a photo essay exploring the universal lure of the water's edge. Sheefa's photo diary brilliantly captured the scenes and setting of CHOGM, and documented the work of the RCS in Perth.
"Strolling on the quiet streets of Perth, with occasional pedestrians for company, I was often reminded of Mumbai. Living in Mumbai - which houses over twenty one million people - there is a constant craving for a moment or two of being alone with oneself". Amit Madheshiya.
