The winner comes to London
Christineil arrives in London and sees the Queen....!
Our winner - Christineil Thompson - braved the cold of London in March (!) to fly from Trinidad and carry the T&T flag in the annual Commonwealth Day Obeservance held in Westminster Abbey.
The UK's largest multi-faith gathering, the Commonwealth Observance is attended by HM The Queen, Heads of Government and faith leaders from around the world, and more than 1000 young people from across the UK. Celebrity readers, dancers and musicians all combine to make this a colourful and lively event.
There are always 54 flagbearers - young people who carry the flag of each Commonwealth nation. Christineil, after winning last year's special Trinidad and Tobago Essay Competition, was chosen to carry her own national flag through the Abbey in front of 1,900 guests, and the Queen!
