RCS Representative welcomes new Commonwealth Chairperson in Office

The newly elected Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has been congratulated upon her appointment to Commonwealth Chairperson in Office by the RCS's Honorary Representative in Trinidad, Bindra Dolsingh.

In a public statement, Bindra said: "The Royal Commonwealth Society extends congratulations to you and your Government for the unprecedented victory at the recent polls, particularly, the democratic conduct of the manner of campaigning and polling itself."

Dolsingh also noted the Society's readiness to work together with the new government in achieving the aims of the Commonwealth.

In an accompanying article in Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday, the Royal Commonwealth Society was described as "the forerunner in all aspects of Commonwealth affairs (in conjunction with the Commonwealth Secretariat) in London, England".

Photography deadline extended

Due to popular demand, the deadline for entries into our Photography Competition has been extended to 1st July. This means it will now close on the same day as our Vision Awards film competition. Only one month to go!

The theme for both competitions in 2010 is: Science, Technology and Society.

Our Essay Competition has already closed and judging is now underway. A list of the winners and their countries will be announced in the August e-newsletter.

We would like your help in making sure as many people as possible know about our Competitions. If you would be willing to circulate a flyer about the Photography and Film Competitions to your friends, family or colleagues, please click here.
